2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/CCW permit eligibility

Question
I sent a question just a little while ago, and realized I forgot something. I live in Maine and I'm in the process of enlisting in the National Guard. I wish to obtain a CCW permit, but don't know if I can. I have a misdemeanor OUI, misdemeanor Possession of usable amount of marijuana, and misdemeanor Possession of schedule W drug. This is my complete criminal record, no felonies and I'm not prohibited from ownership. Just wanted to know if I can still get my carry permit. Thank you very much for your knowledge and time.

Answer
CCW's are at the discretion of the licensing agency, you will have to apply and wait til they give you a decision.  They have grounds to deny you a license for disrespect of the law, although you don't have any felonies you have multiple misdemeanors.  By federal law you are not restricted from purchasing firearms but the state does not have to issue you a permit if they choose not to.  If Maine is a shall issue state you will be issued a permit.

Good Luck
