Question
Is there any way I can obtain a CCW permit in GA?  I have only a misdemeanor possession or marijuana (plead guilty), in 87 in Alabama.  Nothing else.  I can purchase firearms legally in GA.  Never applied for a CCW permit yet.

You are not banned from firearms according to the federal law, however it's still at the discretion of the Ga. licensing board.  If they deny you then you will have to appeal it using the federal firearm codes.  Find out if Ga. has reciprocity with Virginia if Ga. won't give you a firearm permit you can get a non-resident VA or Florida permit.  Check the Virginia state Police website download an application or Florida Dept. of Agriculture website and request a firearm license application.  You will definitely get approved by either agency for a firearm permit if you just have a misdemeanor on your record.
