i was convicted of 2nd degree assualt under an alpha plea,60 days 3 yrs probation.also was convicted of handgun on person 6 months.it was registered to me,just improperly secured.this was in 2000,clean record prior and since.can i purchase a handgun in md or any state now.thanks

This is also a Second Amendment topic, and here you are asking a Criminal Justice question -- why do you think that is?

Don't know what "an alpha plea" is -- do you mean "Alfred plea?"

No, you can't legally obtain a firearm, nor should you be allowed to -- you're a convicted Violent Felon with an additional conviction for a firearms violation. Why would you think you should be able to obtain a firearm???

Consider instead going back to school.
