2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/DUI and Gun Rights

Question
Dan if you could help me with this question it would be very much appreciated!  I live in Oregon and approximately two years ago I made a huge mistake and drove my vehicle after I had a few drinks. It was my irresponsibility and I take full guilt.  It turns into a very difficult process and learned that this certainly would never be done again.  My question is apparently after receiving a DUI, you are banned from purchasing a firearm for 30 months. I am other than that issue a very responsible tax paying citizen.  Could you please explain how a DUI with no firearm involvement what so ever has anything to do with my gun rights.  Perhaps I'm missing something?
Thank you very much,
Troy

Answer
Hi Troy,

Thanks for asking. The only thing that it can be is that Oregon law makes the DUI relate to gun ownership. DUI under federal Law does not affect firearms ownership.

Under Federal laws, convicted felons and misdemeanor cases related to violence, drugs or mental instability, would prevent you from owning firearms.

I would get legal consultations on this matter to see what can be done.

Best regards,

Dan
