Question
I pleaded guilty to a domestic battery charge about 10 years ago and was wondering if or how I would be able to go about getting a foid card I live in Illinois and am lost on where to start I have already denied but some people tell me I can get it just wanted to know if I am wasting my time

Answer
Dodgeboy,

Thanks for asking. A DV or battery charge will prevent you from owning firearms. Illinois has some of the strongest gun laws in the nation and Federal law prohibits violence related charges when possessing guns.

IMHO obtain the services of legal personnel to file for expungement or pardon.
