Question
Hi, i am thinking about buying a black powder revolver and i was just wondering if i could shoot by just using a primer and ball no powder and if i can how fast will it go?
caliber .31 black powder revolver

Answer
Why??? What it is you're attempting to accomplish… light loads? That can be attained with existing data found in a good black powder or Pyrodex manual.

Your plan wouldn't be a good idea, Al… even if you DO get away with it once or twice, you're bound to wind up with an obstructed bore when the force of the primer isn't enough to propel the ball all the way through the barrel.

Then you'd start backing balls up with the bore and that gets dangerous.

And black powder isn't something you want to play around with in any instance.
