Question
I was arrested in 08 for domestic violence but I was realeased cause the
prosuctor could not find enough evidence against I didn't even go to court.
Now I want to try to get a CCW would that arrest prevent me from getting a
CCW even though I was never convicted of the domestic violence

Answer
Whew, where to start, Chris?

First… and it seems that I have to re-state this with virtually every response of late… this is a Second Amendment topic, NOT a Criminal Justice one.

This suggests that, in addition to your spelling problems, you don't read very well, so your primary consideration would be to finish school.

Next, you haven't indicated the state in which you reside, so we have no idea of the requirements for a "CCW." In my state of New York, on every application (or renewal!) for a handgun license, the applicant MUST list all police contacts (arrests) and the court disposition… Conviction, Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal, reduction to a lesser charge, straight Dismissal, etc.… and the licensing authority would be most interested in any charge relating to Domestic Violence which, under the (ex post facto) Lautenberg Amendment, would be an automatic disqualifier for any firearms possession.

Your state may have different regulations, but "Lautenberg," a Federal Law, still holds.

What you need to do, after attending to your education, is consult with an attorney in your jurisdiction, and get some authoritative advice.

G'luck to you.

I can answer questions about Handguns, Rifles, Ammunition, the Firearms Industry, the "gunzine game," practical accessories for self-defense (CCW) handguns; rumor control on firearms myths, errata on the "gunshop grapevine."

I am NOT an Attorney, and nothing I provide here should be relied upon as legal advice. Therefore, please do NOT make inquiries about Criminal Justice issues... this is the Second Amendment topic.

Nor do I do "Private Consultations." Want to made it "private," retain an attorney.
