Question
I have been convicted of felony for a drug offense 5 years ago. I am engaged to marry a police officer in new york.
Will I come into problems as he has his service pistol as well as his concealed weapon
What can I  do if this will be a problem as I do have a felony.

Answer
You will have to apply for a Certificate of Relief from Disability.  If you only received probation for your crime you must go to the court probation Dept. in the borough where you was convicted.  If you did State time you must go online to NYS Parole and download a form for CRD or Certificate of Good Conduct.  Either one of these restoration of rights with no restrictions will drop your firearm restrictions.  In most probation Dept's like 100 Centre St. they will put a firearm restriction on your CRD.  So you must attempt to check box B. instead of C.  They will probably claim they are no longer accepting applications for box B. you must attempt to argue that especially if the Judge pre-signed your application with box B. checked.  You may have to get a Lawyer for box B.
