Question
i was wondering what kind of record would bar you form obtaining a pistol
permit in nassau county ny, i have a   misdeamenor drug conviction  from 5
years a ago, and a dwi, from almost ten years ago.  I have had no problem
obtaining rifles legally, but the 300 dollar price tag on just to look at the
application is making me think twice  about applying,  so any info you could
provide me  with about what kind of arrests would automatically stop me
from getting one

Answer
There is no certain answer to your question because there is no list of misdemeanor convictions which would "automatically" bar you from obtaining a pistol license. In addition to the convictions, NCPD will likely evaluate the totality of your circumstances, including job and residential history and stability. I suggest you simply call the license division and ask the commanding officer whether your convictions make it unlikely that you will get a license. Good luck.
