Question
I was arrested 12 years ago in illinois for mis. domestic battery. is there any way to get my firearms back? its been 12 years all i want to do is be able to hunt! i have no criminal record except that! what do i do? everyone says drop it your out of luck! there has to be a way!

Answer
Jack,

Thanks for asking. There most likely is a way, but you will have to obtain legal help. There are expunges and pardons, however I do not know if Illinois offers either one. Domestic battery, even though it is a misdemeanor appears to be violent in nature.

I hope this helps and best wishes on getting your firearms back.
