Question
I am an Ohio resident that was convicted of 2 misdemeanor drug charges 7 years ago. How can I own a firearm?

Answer
Misdemeanors are not grounds for firearm restrictions according to federal firearm codes, unless it's a domestic violence conviction.  Each state may put restrictions on certain misdemeanors and if your crime falls under that restriction then you must apply and receive restoration of your firearm rights in the state where you was convicted.  You may also be required to receive a firearm permit before you can own a firearm or you will fail the NICS check each time you attempt to purchase a handgun.
