2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/CCW Laws

Question
I was convicted of 2 misdemeanors for DUI over 7 years ago.  I have already taken the NRA class and am applying to the local sheriffs office for my permit.  Will I have an issue getting my Concealed weapons permit in Colorado because of my past 2 DUI's misdemeanors over 7 years ago?

Answer
As far as federal firearm code is concerned you are not restricted from firearms.  A CCW Permit does not determine if you are restricted from firearms it only gives you permission to carry a firearm concealed.  Therefore, it is at the discretion of the Sheriff if he wants to approve your application or not.  Even if he does not approve your application it does not mean you can't purchase a firearm you just can't carry it concealed.  If so you may want to apply for a non-resident permit the has reciprocity in Colorado.  Try Florida, Utah, Virginia. I know for a fact you will receive Virginia's CCW.
