2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/restoration of rights process

Question
Hi,
I am not sure where I stand. I am a current resident in Kansas and about 15yrs ago I found it hard to stay out of trouble. I did get charged with a class E felony for theft. It was not a "person" or "armed" felony. I did not have to do any type of prison time, just probation and restitution. As I remember it was reduced to a misdemeanor but, not positive. Since that time I have never been in trouble again. I am wanting to purchase a riffle the legal way but, being uncertain I requested a copy of my background check through KBI. It list a felony on it. Would this just be the original charge? I recently was selected for jury duty (thought felons could not be selected?). If I do in fact have the felony on my record what procedure can I start so I can own a riffle? Is there a form to fill out or how does this work?

Answer
If the FBI says you have a felony then you have a felony not a misdemeanor.  You are restricted from owning any firearms including rifles or long guns. You will have to apply for full restoration of rights in the state where you was convicted.
I don't know what state you was convicted in but in certain states you will need a pardon which is very hard to get unless you can prove you was innocent. For instance if you was convicted in NYC, DC, NC, NJ, UTAH forget it don't waste your time.

Good Luck
