Question
About 6 years ago i was convicted of a State jail felony in Texas. It was for a civil rights violation of a person in custody. I would like to know how I can go about getting my rights to own a gun back if they infact have been taken away..I am not sure where to begin..

Answer
Yes, if you are a felon your firearm rights are taken. (Federal Firearm Code 18. U.S.C 921.
You will have to apply for full restoration of rights with the Texas Board of Pardons.  Do a google search and you can download the application from their website.
