Question
In 1978 I pleabargained a 3rd felony in florida.part of the plea bargain the state with held ajudication.while background checks show this to be true,it has followed me for years.I was told it would not effect my rights but when checked the state of Va.does not understand it's meaning.if i attempt to purchase a firearm, could i be arrested?

Answer
No you would be denied, you may get arrested for answering no to the question have you ever been convicted of a felony?.  You are restricted from firearms until the state of Florida gives you full restoration of rights.  Go online to Florida Executive Clemency and download an appliation for firearm restoration of rights, if you dont see it on the site call them and request a copy be mailed to you.  If you live in Virginia now you can also get relief there by going to Virginia Executive Clemency and downloading their applicaton for restoration of rights.  They can't give you your firearm rights but it's the first step.  You need that cerificate to petition the court for firearm rights to be restored in VA.
