2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Felony DWI - Texas
Expert: n/a - 4/11/2009
QuestionI was convicted of a 3rd-degree DWI felony in 1992 (3rd DWI), I was young and stupid, now I have a family, a very good job (17 yrs.), finished college, and don't have but one speeding ticket since then. I want to take my kids hunting, be a soccer coach, maybe be a public office servant, and adopt. I think I paid for my mistakes. I was on probation 3 years and I was supposed to serve 30 days in county jail, although I never did a day because jail was always full and I got credit for it when I showed up on weekends. What are my chances of getting my all of my civil rights restored and where should I start? I can't even get a gun to protect my family, nor can my wife because I have one felony. Should I use pardon service on the web?
AnswerYes, Texas Board of Pardons is the only way you can get your firearm rights back. Everything is on their website with full intructions. It is very much possible to get your firearm rights back many people with prior felony offenses have done it and are legally armed today.
Good Luck
