Question
I was convited of grand larceny in fed court in 1991.All my time and probation has long since been satisfied.I have had my voting rights restored, now I would like to get my 2nd admendments rights back. What is the process for doing this and approx. how long should it take. Also I would like to know if I could get a concealed weapons permitt? I live in Va. Thamks

Answer
Mr. Fields,

Thanks for contacting me about this matter. I am not a legal expert but if you were charged with grand larceny it could be a felony or a misdemeanor. Federal firearm laws state that convicted felons may not own firearms.

I found this information for you concerning grand larceny in Virginia.

A felony would have to be expunged from your record or pardoned.

I recommend contacting legal help in VA to see what your options are. If you can get your second amendment rights back then a CCW should be good after that.

Best wishes,

Dan
