Expert: n/a - 5/12/2009
QuestionMy Fiance is a convicted federal felon and we are in the process of requesting that his right to vote be restored. I also would like to have my right to bear arms restored; however, the address that wev'e gotten was returned to us: Assistant Director - Criminal Enforcment
Bureau of ATF
Dept. of Treasury
P.O.Box 784, Ben Franklin Station
Washington D.C, 20044
Do you have the correct address & What is the process that we must go through in order to get our rights restored? Thanks
AnswerBATFE is now located in West Virginia but don't waste your time writing them for restoration of rights because as of now anyone with a Federal conviction must apply for a Presidential Pardon. ATF does not have a budget for restoring rights any longer. In order to receive the right to vote depending on which state you was convicted in you would need to be free from any and all supervision meaning Parole/Probation. Or in some states you must apply for restoration of voting rights. But no need to write ATF they only deal with firearm rights and with a federal conviction forget about a legal firearm.
Good Luck
