Question
I live in Oregon, almost 4 years ago I was convicted of misdemeanor assault 4 ( a D.V.) unfortunately. My wife and I worked it out, I completed anger management, alcohol classes, road crew, etc. I did everything I was supposed to. Can I ever legally own a gun again? I know i can get my record expunged, would that help?

Answer
According to federal laws you are restricted from firearm for good.  There has been cases where some individuals have had their conviction expunged and removed completely from their records but the feds kept it on file to continue the firearm restriction.  You an try the expungement with the hopes that the feds erase it completely from your FBI fingerprints.
