2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/CCW - Mental health records

Question
Hello,
I am interested in applying for a CCW permit in Michigan.  On their application you sign permission for them to access your medical records.  When I was a youth in my home state of Colorado I was diagnosed as Bipolar and at one time was voluntarily checked into a stress center.  Granted I feel that this was a misdiagnosis (as I was just young and dumb)and my visit to the stress center I feel was because I was prescribed medication that was not for an illness that I had, which can have adverse side effects.  Granted I can say whatever I want but this is in my medical records. This has long passed and I am no where near suffering from any illness.

I am curios as to if this information will show up on my medical background check for the CCW permit, and if so would it be prudent to obtain a psychological evaluation from a psychiatrist to attest to the well being of my mental health before I apply?  If I do so should I obtain a letter from the psychologist and mail it to my previous Dr. (If still practicing) and also the stress center to keep in their records?  Would they even still keep my records past the mandated 7-10 years?  Or should I just present the letter at the gun boards hearing if it does indeed show up in their checks?

Thanks for your time

Answer
You would just have to apply for the permit, if they deny you for your medical history then you will have to prove your case through appealing their decision. You would definately need a letter from a Doctor licensed in your home state stating you suffer from no mental health issues.

Good Luck
