Question
Hello

In 1980 while a senior in college,I was convisted of a misdemeanor and a felony(sale of 1 ounce of marijuana and 1 gram of cocaine) in the state of Maine. I am planning on buying a ranch in Wyo. and thought it might be nice have a rifle, but I believe at that point I cannot own one because of my criminal record. Is there a process I can engagae in to undo this (and any other) consequence(s) of my arrest ?

thanks

Mark

Answer
Yes, You must receive full restoration of rights or Executive Clemency from Maine.  That is the only way you will be able to purchase a weapon.  You may also have to receive a firearm permit in Wyo as well before you will be able to pass the NICS check.

Good Luck
