Question
My girlfriend is a felon and I am not. We live together and I would like to own a gun. May I legally do so? If not, what could be the reprocussions? Thank you.

Answer
No, you can't own any firearms while she is living there.  She can be charged with possession of a firearm as a felon.  What she can do is apply for Executive Clemency or Full restoration of rights.  I don't know what state you live in or what state she was convicted in.

It would be risky to do so because there has been cases where the wife purchased weapons when the husband was a felon and by using the same address their home was invaded by state and ATF Agents to arrest them both for illegal possession of firearms.  Maybe because they were married is the reason they both were arrested but I don't se much of a difference.  I would look into restoration of rights s long as its not a violent crime she should be alright depending on the length of time that has passed, what she has been doing since the arrest and the state of conviction.

Good Luck
