2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Gun Purchase in NY State

Question
In 2003 I plead guilty to felony DWI. I was sentenced to 5 years probation which I will complete next month in August 2009.  I am interested in having my rights restored as a citizen to include voting, jury duty & gun ownership.

Is there a process in NY State that allows for a person with a non violent felony conviction & no domestic or any form of assault charges to apply for and seek the right to purchase a firearm?

Thank you for your time in answering.

Follow this link:

and the document will explain the process. As respects firearm ownership, see particularly #15--all the way to the end, including the Note--which should give you enough information to answer your question.
