2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Gun Rights

Question
I was convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence in Ca 10 yrs ago. I was told I was not allowed to possess a firearm for 10 yrs from the date of conviction. 10 yrs has passed and my conviction was expunged in Jan of 2007. I seem to be running into walls about gun ownership plus it is keeping me from obtaining certain federal employment. I served in the USMC for 11 yrs and I would like to work for the govt again. Can you give me some advice and maybe answers. I feel like my 2nd Amendment rights are being violated.

Answer
Once you have a domestic violence conviction on your record you will never legally own a firearm again until the federal government decides to change that law.  Not even an expungement is good enough.  I don't know who told you about that 10 year rule that was never included in the federal firearm law for domestic violence convictions.
