Question
QUESTION: I am a felon having never served time in a state or federal prison. I have served probation for my two offences, the first time I received two years probation for theft of property, and the second offense; I received ten years probation. My question is how difficult is it to have all my rights returned to me. I reside in the state of Texas. I am no longer on paper since December 1993.

ANSWER: You have to apply at the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole for both convictons.  Everything will depend on what you have done since your conviction, what type of crime and how long you have been off supervision.

Good Luck

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Since I must apply for my rights before a board, is it in my best interest to retain a lawyer in Austin, TX or in the county that I reside in?  Also, if I have no misdemeanors or felony convictions or arrest for such are my odds fairly good?

Answer
I don't understand your follow up question.  In your first question you said you had a felony. Now you are saying you dont have a felony or a misdemeanor I'm confused do you have a felony or not? it does not matter if you did prison time or not you are still a convicted felon.  You are not allowed to own firearms until you receive full restoration of rights and you don't need a lawyer for that.

Good Luck
