Question
I want to apply for a firearms ID in NJ. 30 years ago I had a possession of less than 25 grams charge. $25.00 fine and never thought of it again. 1) is it a problem for me when applying?, and 2) should I list it on the application at all or leave it off because its so old?
Thank you

Answer
A conviction is never too old.  If you had a conviction and you lie about it forget about your gun permit or I.D.  The only way you would know the answer is by applying.  It's at the discretion of the issuing agency as long as you are not federally restricted from firearms.

Good Luck
