2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Felon's Right to Own firearms

Question
I thought Gun restrictions was just for hand guns and guns that need to be registered, and that was the purpose for the criminal back ground check and a 5 day waiting period. To my knowledge there is no waiting period nor back ground check for rifles or shotguns.  Is this true????

Answer
Fred,

No it is not true:

It depends on which state you live in. All firearms legally purchased require filling out the BATF form 4473 and a background check by the state agency or NICS or both. Some of the more gun restrictive states like California may require a waiting period on everything. Please check with a legal person to assist you further.
