Is it ok to use less than 120 gr bullets in .38 or .38+P I know it's a no no with the 357 mags. Thank you

While this isn't anything like a Second Amendment question, I can tell you that, for best results follow the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.

In other words, Smith & Wesson doesn't want you to use the 110-grain JHPs in their revolvers. Listen to them. They have their reasons, and in this case, it involves the lighter projectiles "backing out" from the cartridge case under recoil.
