2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/rifle law

Question
Hi, I was involved in a domestic dispute with my ex 10 years ago. They had nothing to go off other than she told them she was afraid for her life and I violated a 72 hour no contact. I was put in jail and found guilty of a county charge of battery even though there were no marks on her(I had a bad lawyer I should have fired). I want to buy a new rifle as I want to take up hunting again but am worried I will be red flagged here in Wisconsin. All I ever got out of it was a fine, nothing else. Is this something I am going to have to worry about? thanks

Answer
David,

Thanks for asking,

Yes the battery charge could be enough to prevent your purchase of a rifle. Any charge related to violence is often enough to raise a red flag. I would recommend finding legal help to see about getting the charge off of your record.
