My friend Michael Jones was issued a Florida's concealed weapon or firearm license by Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The same day he received the license he went to buy a Glock from a local firearm dealer. Florida Department of Law Enforcement denied his purchase because another person with his name and birth date who lived in MA is a convicted felon. F.D.L.E. is giving him the run around with the appeal process. He sent his fingerprints off to them and the F.B.I. As of 12/09/09 F.D.L.E. has his fingerprints, today is 01/07/10. They said due to holiday's it will be another three weeks before they can issue a temporary letter to allow him to purchase a handgun. F.B.I. is going to issue a U.P.I.N. but the takes up to 5 months. Any help on resolving this issue for my friend is gratefully appreciated.

How do you possibly imagine that this is a Second Amendment question?

This isn't even a Criminal Justice question! It's a bureaucratic complaint, and no one has asked us to field one of those before.

I understand your and Michael's frustration with"the system," but there's no quick fixes, and certainly none available through AllExperts!

Sorry for Michael's troubles, but you should let him carry his own water on this one.
