Question
IredellI have never been convicted of a felony in any state I was born and raised in Statesville, NC 28677.  I have been arrested for misdaminer crimes but none violent.  One DWI 4 years ago. I went to my county sherriffs dept. to get a permit to buy a handgun for protection of my family and nothing else.  Noy even any plans on carrying it off my property. But I was turned down because I was told I had been in too much trouble in my past even though no felony.  Do I have any recourse.  These days I do not feel safe in my home at night while sleeping without a handgun.  I could understand if I had been found guilty of a felony, but never have.  Any help for Iredell County North Carolina? Sherriff Phil Redmond

Answer
Craig,

Thanks for asking,
I suggest that you get legal help to determine why you are getting denied with no mental, felony, drug, or violence charges. Any of these will put a black mark on your record. I can understand your feeling of insecurity for sure.
