Question
The other day my dad went to purchase a shotgun for me to hunt with while I was with him. He was denied based on a domestic violence charge from 1991 in california. just curious if there is anyway to get my dads right to purchase firearms back and what is the process he would need to take. what are the laws regarding this? I plan on buying him a new shotgun this year and I just want to make sure that he will be able legally own it. thank you for any advice and your time in advance.

It possible but you need to hire a lawyer who specializes in this area.
Call your local Bar Association for a refereal.

During the Clinton Administration there was a federal prohibition on misdemeanor domestic violence
conviction put in place.

At this point he prohibited from legal firearms ownership.
Giving one to him would open you him up to criminal charges.
