2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Assult charge but no conviction

Question
When I was in highschool I got into a fight. They had just issued that safe
schools act or somthing like that and the other guy and I were arrested.
Neither of us pressed charges on the other but the city picked it up. I had
just turned 18 and was charged with 2 assult charges. I was ordered to
pay a fine and did two years of unsupervised probation. Will that arrest
prevent me from passing a background check? It was a little over 8 years
ago. Clean record ever since.

Answer
JR,

Thanks for asking. With 2 assault charges still on your record, I doubt you will pass the background check. With legal help you may be able to get those charges expunged from your record. Another option would be to file for a pardon.
