2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/CCW in Banks

Question
I understand that I cannot carry a gun in a Federal bank by US law.  Is it legal to carry a pistol into a non federal bank in New York state?

Answer
I am not sure what "US law" you are referring to, nor what you mean by a "Federal bank."

However, it is illegal under 18 USC Sec. 930 to carry a gun in a "Federal facility," which is defined as "a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties."

That definition does not include most banks, even those that are federally insured. It may well include the 12 regional Federal Reserve banks, but those are not open for consumers to transact business.

New York does not have any law regulating possession of firearms in banks. One licensed to carry a concealed firearm in New York would be allowed into any bank that was not a "Federal facility."
