Question
I was generally discharged from the army last year for a DUI that occurred on base. there is a suspension on my license in the state of GA now. Will this keep me from owning a hand gun in the state of Maryland?  I already paid for it Monday but the salesman said it would take 7 to 10 days for a background check and the anticipation is driving me crazy.

Why are you posting this personal question here, Joshua? This is the Second Amendment topic, not the I-was-driving-drunk-on-base-got-bounced-from-the-military-and-now-I'm-nervous-'cause-I'm-trying-to-buy-a-handgun topic!

What should keep you from buying a handgun is your lack of Reading Comprehension skills and suspect Character for drunk driving on a military installation… but the State of Maryland may only take the latter into account.
