2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Appeal

Question
QUESTION: About a yaer ago I was denied a permit in Wethersfield, CT. The reason given was a suitability issue(i was arrested for drinking a beer outside 10 years ago) Even though I was let go without even community service and some misdemeanor traffic violations, none that would deem me ineligible. My appeal is next month and my question is this, How do you combat a suitability arguement? I am a manager in a large hospital, i own a home and am a father. Aside from a couple stupid mistakes over 10 years ago I haven't even had a traffic ticket. Will the appeal board take all of this into account and deem me suitable?

ANSWER: Hire a 2nd amendment layer. Bring him with you.
Attorney Ralph Sherman in New Britian specializes in this.
You can call the Bar Association for other to get other referrals.

QUESTION: I thank you for your follow-up, however it wasn't an answer. I'm aware of Attorney Sherman and would prefer not to hire an attorney. I was just trying to find out are there specific guidelines as to proving suitability? If you can not answer because you are not familiar with CT laws, I understand and thank you for volunteering your expertise for free!

Answer
I advised you bring a lawyer because the board tends ignore actual set criteria. They ignore violations of laws by local PD's who simply do not answer at all. Generally rubber stamps the city rejection. I have seen people 0 arrests get rejected as "unsuitable" without any concrete reason for doing so. Nor would they say why they where "unsuitable".
There are set no standard for suitability, its purely subjective.
If you bring a lawyer with you and you are much less likily to get rejected, as unsuitable. You asking how to combat it? That is the answer. I am Hartford Ct. resident and I know how it works.
