Question
RECENTLY I SERVED OUT A FIVE YEAR SENTENCE ON A THIRD DEGREE BURGLARY CHARGE THAT I WAS CONVICTED OF SEVEN YEARS AGO AT THE AGE OF 18.I AM NOW 25YRS. OLD IN A FEW MONTHS. I WAS CONVICTED IN CALLOWAY CO. MURRAY,KY. I LIVE IN TENNESSEE NOW AND WAS WONDERING IF NOT ABLE TO OWN A FIREARM,COULD I LEGALLY HANDLE ONE ON SAY A FIRING RANGE????

Answer
Shawn,

Thanks for asking. A third degree burglary charge is a felony, and by Federal law, felons cannot own or possess firearms. The law is nationwide, instead of state specific. No you cannot handle a gun on a firing range either.

Some options are get legal help to file to expunge or pardon your record. This would restore your rights.

Best regards,

Dan
