Question
Sir, I hope you can help me out with this question. My x-wife was charged in Ohio on 3/31/1990 with Assault (M1) orc 2903.13
She plead guilty to Disorderly Conduct (MM) on 3/16/1990.
She has not had any trouble since. She is 62 now. My question is, can still buy a firearm and can she get a carry permit. We are in Ohio. I was the victim in the case and I have no problem myself with her getting a permit. In fact, I want to help. I have a permit myself.Hope you can help out. Thank you for your time Sir.

Answer
It is impossible to fully answer your questions because you do not supply enough information, and your questions go beyond the topic of this category. First, you would need to consider whether the disorderly conduct misdemeanor she pleaded to had a domestic violence aspect to it. That is, did the disorderly conduct misdemeanor she pleaded to involve the use, threat of, or attempted use of physical force against you when you were her spouse? The resolution of that question is a matter of Ohio criminal procedure, and is not a Second Amendment or Right to Keep and Bear Arms question.

Next, if the crime did involve domestic violence, then she would be prohibited under federal law from possessing firearms or ammunition. If the misdemeanor did not involve domestic violence, then she would not be prohibited under federal law.

Assuming she was not prohibited under federal law, then whether she's eligible for a carry permit in Ohio is a question of Ohio state law and permit procedure. The criteria for getting an Ohio permit is available from the state authorities.
