2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Element of Domestic Violence

Question
In Georgia i was accused of fought and settled a charge of domestic violence. It was reduced to misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct. My attorney told me i could still possess firearms but when i purchased one the A.T.F. contacted me saying there were "elements of domestic violence in the original charge." What does that mean?

Answer
Randall,

Thanks for asking. I think it means that the original charge was indeed domestic violence. Did the ATF contact you at the time of purchase and deny it? If so then they are saying that DV element will not allow the purchase of a firearm.

Best regards,

Dan
