2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Obtaining unrestricted license

Question
I have recently obtained a pistol permit in orange county, New York.  The problem that I have is that it is restricted for when I am carrying money for my employer as well as hunting, target, and fishing.  How would I go about getting it to be unrestricted.  I live in my primary residence but I sometimes stay at my girlfriends house and need to bring my pistol there since the next day I go straight to work from there.  I am afraid of getting pulled over while I am going there and them taking away my pistol license for carrying it when I shouldn't be. Any suggestions on how to get it unrestricted?

Answer
If you want a private consultation, retain an attorney. We who serve here do so pro bono publico, so publico it will be.

If you are legally allowed to possess a handgun in New York State, you have a License, not a "permit." (The permission is implicit in §400 of the NYS Penal Code.)

There are only two (2) types of Licenses in New York State, those with a "C" prefix (for "Carry") and those with a "P" prefix (for "Premises"). You have a "C" license, with endorsements for the purposes you've stated.

Your County seems to be of the sort that issues Pistol Licenses with restrictive conditions of carry. based on the application you submitted and on which the County acted. If you wanted an "unrestricted" endorsement, that's what you should have applied for.

But those conditions of carry still allow you a great deal of latitude, and if you use that latitude wisely, and don't do anything stupid while having your licensed handgun in your possession, the shouldn't have a problem.

Now, this isn't a Second Amendment question, but I answered it anyway since you are a fellow Noo Yawker.

Be safe, and don't be stupid.

I can answer questions about Handguns, Rifles, Ammunition, the Firearms Industry, the "gunzine game," practical accessories for self-defense (CCW) handguns; rumor control on firearms myths, errata on the "gunshop grapevine."

I am NOT an Attorney, and nothing I provide here should be relied upon as legal advice. Therefore, please do NOT make inquiries about Criminal Justice issues... this is the Second Amendment topic.

Nor do I do "Private Consultations." Want to made it "private," retain an attorney.
