Question
I know someone who committed a non violent felony over 40 yrs ago(bad check). Since then he has been a law abiding' hard working successful business man. Now in his late 60"s. Is there any way he can  regain his rights to buy firearms and posibbly get a ccw?                                                                                                     In his youth he served honorably in the Army Airborne in Korea and recieved an honorable discharge.
He paid his debt to society and since then has  been a valuable  asset to our country and economy.
Is there anything he can do to try and regain his first and fourth ammendment rights?
Regardless, if he is denied his rights he will  remain a loyal , law abiding citizen who loves his country.
By the way I am not talking about myself. I have never been arrested or convicted of any crime. I am lucky enough to  enjoy all the rights given me by God and the Bill Of  Rights.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
God bless America and all of the brave men and women in our armed forces and local police who risk their lives everyday to save our lives and way of life. Please try to help those who have dedicated their whole lives to keeping our economy strong and only ask a small amount of respect and rights lost to a mistake make over 40 years ago.

Answer
Frank,

Thanks for asking. He can get his right to own firearms back by filing to expunge or pardon his records. Under Federal firearms laws, a felony conviction will prevent firearm ownership.
To file he may require legal assistance.

Best regards.
