Question
I bought a 22 rifle last year in Alabama and had no problem getting it. When I went to by a 22 pistol I was denied because the ncis said back in 1976 i was picked up in New Jersey for shop lifting under 50.00 dollars at a store that i pleaded not guilty to but was fined $250.00 dollars. Is this reason enough for them not to let me have a hand gun in Alabama where I live.

John, you want a "private response?" Hire an attorney and pay his rate.

Secondly, this isn't a Second Amendment question, it's a Criminal Justice matter.

Finally, you answered your own question. You may have pled "Not Guilty," but the court didn't believe you… otherwise why did they fine you $250?

If you said you were never convicted of a crime when you filled out your Form 4473, you were not truthful.
