Question
When someone has a misdemeanor A filed with the family violence causing bodily injury charge and they have been put on probation and deferred adj, once their probation period is over will he or she be able to own, posses and purchase fire arms?

Answer
Heather, I've changed this to a public response because we serve here pro bono... want a private consultation? Hire an attorney and pay the going rate.

I cannot give you an answer to this question because of the way you phrased it. You should consult with an attorney familiar with your state laws.

In general, however, any sort of Domestic Violence conviction, under the Lautenberg Law, would be a prohibiting offense.

Expertise

I can answer questions about Handguns, Rifles, Ammunition, the Firearms Industry, the "gunzine game," practical accessories for self-defense (CCW) handguns; rumor control on firearms myths, errata on the "gunshop grapevine."

I am NOT an Attorney, and nothing I provide here should be relied upon as legal advice. Therefore, please do NOT make inquiries about Criminal Justice issues... this is the Second Amendment topic.

Nor do I do "Private Consultations." Want to made it "private," retain an attorney.
