Question
Is it illegal for a felon to own a BB gun or pellet gun, (hand held or rifle) In new york state?

As I am not an attorney, nor do I portray one on AllExperts.com, it is my policy to not offer advice on matters where the consequences of such advice could entangle one in serious legal problems.
New York State gun laws are both onerous and complex, even more so if one resides within the five boroughs of New York City. If the person who could be affected adversely by the answer to your inquiry is unwilling to ask either the New York State Police in Albany or his or her parole officer or legal counsel, I would refer them to §265 of the NY Penal Law (http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/nycodes/c82/a68.html) to research the issue for themselves.
Sorry if that sounds like a cop-out, but I'm unwilling to take responsibility for someone else's freedom, #1, and, #2, yours wasn't really a Second Amendment question, was it?
