2nd Amendment and Right to Bear Arms/Am I still a Prohibited Person?

Question
Nearly eight years ago, I was convicted of a felony.  Four years later, it was reduced to a misdemeanor, and a few months after that, the case was dismissed.  I would like to know if there is a way that I can check if I am able to buy a gun now without going to a gun shop and being denied on the spot.  I would also like to know if there is a way to have that right restored if I am still not eligible.

Thank you

Answer
If your fingerprint shows any conviction even if it was reversed you will need to get a firearm permit to purchase a firearm from a Gun Store.  If the conviction does not show on your FBI record you should not be rejected and you should appeal the rejection so NICS can update their data base with your new information.   You must have documents proving your case or don't waste your time.   Why not just apply for a firearm permit?  Fl. and Va. offer non resident firearm permits that has reciprocity in many States.   GOOD LUCK!!!
