Question
Mr. Reed, I am a 2 time felony offender and I truely can say that in both cases I was innocent. A Manslaughter conviction in the mid 1970's in which the NY judge was later disbarred and the 18B lawyer just didn't want to go to trial and misled my father's trust that he was working in my behalf. The second conviction shows that plea questions were answered by my attorney and the court refused to give my plea back at sentencing back in 1991. I haven't stopped fighting nor will I. I applied for and did receive my Certificate Of Good Conduct from NY State but living in Georgia now and enjoying the range with hopes of becoming a professional marksmen, I'm seeking to gain a pardon so I can carry without waiting for someone to go with me or having to use the range's pistols. Do you think I will ever get my CCW and what course do you think I should take to get one. My certificate only refers to licensing and not to possessing or owning. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

Answer
If you have a NYS Certificate of Good Conduct you are covered as long as it does not state you CAN'T own, purchase or transport a firearm.  You should first call Virginia state police and ask will your certificate be valid to get a non resident firearm permit there.  They have reciprocity with Georgia so you would be able to carry in Ga.   After that try for a Georgia permit as well.  Florida non resident permit also has reciprocity with Georgia as well.  The only problem I see is you have two convictions and one is manslaughter.

Good Luck
