Question I am contacting you on behalf of my father. He is a felon and when he was released they did not give him a list of laws that he must follow. I was wondering if you can help me out on the gun laws, voting and ect. He wants to know what he can and can't do. Thank you, Tommy
Answer Dear Tommy,
Thanks for contacting me about this. Federal firearm laws prohibit convicted felons from purchasing a firearm as do many state laws.
Gun rights and voting rights can be restored by executive pardon or some other means depending on what the state law is.
You will need to check with your own state laws on that. I suggest that you contact legal assistance.
If I can be of any further help, please contact me again.
