QUESTION: My conviction was federal.
Answer Although there is a provision in federal law for a "relief from disability" which would restore your gun rights, since October 1992 Congress has specifically prohibited ATF from expending any funds to investigate or act upon applications for relief from federal firearm disabilities. I therefore do not believe that you can get your rights restored, but I urge you to check on this directly with ATF at this address:
