About Kelly Walter
Expertise I can answer almost any question about 311 that someone would have, unless it is about the band`s personal life, as I do not know them personally.
I can answer questions about songs, their website, albums, tours, etc.
I WILL NO LONGER ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT RARE MERCHANDISE. People keep asking me about it and when I don't have a place for them to buy the merch from, they get upset with me. I am human, I cannot make the rare merch magically appear, that's why it's rare. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO FIND RARE MERCH, keep looking on Ebay and other auction websites. If you ask me questions about merch, I will not answer them (unless for some reason I know of somewhere that you don't).
Experience I have been a fan for 11 years and have seen 27 shows in 9 different states. I am a member on their bulletin board and receive updates very often on what the band is doing.

Question Hey kelly. I noticed that the 311 sound has changed over the years. On their earlier albums there was a lot of rap, now there is hardly any. Do you think 311 did this on purpose, and if yes..why?
Also i noticed that now days all the rapping is done by SA and none is done by nick. Do you know why this is?
thank you
Answer I can only go off of things that I've seen the band say in random interviews and on the 311 bulletin board. They pretty much feel like that part of their music is overwith, at least for now. They've said that it was more of a thing that they did when they were younger and more into hip hop. On the bulletin board, Nick mentioned that he feels as though hip hop has been going downhill as of late, so maybe that may contribute to it. I don't think he meant ALL hip hop, I think basically stuff more like Lil John and Chamillionaire, etc...I also think that since they helped to pioneer the rap/rock movement and then it exploded, they may feel sorta like "been there, done that, let's move on".
One thing about their styles changing is that Nick has said, in an interview, that as they've gotten older, he feels they have lost their fire a little. When they were younger and not as popular, they had a certain fire inside that drove them to keep creating diverse music. As the time went on, I think that fire naturally just got smaller and smaller. That is a main reason that they are taking a "break" from touring and recording right now. They've all said that they are definitely going to be coming back, but that they all need their personal time, time away from eachother. Sort of like a new charge for their batteries.
Haha, sorry for the long explanation. I hope I helped.
