Im a big cure fan!And i heard 311 cover of love song and i have to say it was terrible it was also rated by vh1 one of the worst songs of 2003 and i have to agree with them.But anyways what gave them the inspiration to cover that song whose idea was it?Well whatever bye
Actually, they covered the song because of the movie "50 First Dates". Adam Sandler is a fan of 311 and also a fan of 80's music. He asked 311 to cover "Love Song" for the soundtrack, so they did. There are also a bunch of other covers of 80's songs on the soundtrack by people such as Jason Mraz, Seal, Ziggy Marley and Dryden Mitchell from Alient Ant Farm (he covered "Friday, I'm in Love").
As for not liking the cover, trust me, a lot of 311 fans don't really like the cover either. But that song isn't all 311 has done. They have a huge catalog of music.
Overall, I would say that whether you like the cover or not, there is probably a chance that you will like something else they have done.

I can answer questions about songs, their website, albums, tours, etc. I WILL NO LONGER ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT RARE MERCHANDISE. People keep asking me about it and when I don't have a place for them to buy the merch from, they get upset with me. I am human, I cannot make the rare merch magically appear, that's why it's rare. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO FIND RARE MERCH, keep looking on Ebay and other auction websites. If you ask me questions about merch, I will not answer them (unless for some reason I know of somewhere that you don't).
Experience
I have been a fan for 11 years and have seen 27 shows in 9 different states. I am a member on their bulletin board and receive updates very often on what the band is doing.
